Next Monthy Meeting - 7:00pm March 14, 2003

NGC-4483 as seen by Brent's Dysonian

This is a club meeting you won't want to miss. Brent Maynard is going to show us his recently-completed, nitrogen-cooled, 18-inch Dysonian! He has already been contacted by NASA engineers to study his mirror and the grinding tools he used. Brent says that anyone who wants to see the remains of Apollo 15's lunar rover can stay after. No pushing!

We'll also hear from Stephanie Holmes about the fun a large group of club members had taking part in the asteroid occultation measurements last weekend. It was cold, but hey! That's when we get the best views! It was a small price to pay. Some groups never saw the star wink out, but that's important data, too.

It's annual dues drive time, so please bring your checkbooks. Of course, you can always renew online using PayPal.

Jovian Moons Awareness Day

Next Tuesday, we need the help of as many members as we can get to visit cub scout meetings in the area. We've promised a big turn out on the night of the new moon to show these kids what Galileo discovered: The four large moons of Jupiter.

Please sign up by sending an e-mail to galileo@backyardastro.org. don't forget to bring your binoculars! And no flashlight gags this year (Frank-- I'm talking to you!).
